I seriously have to keep pinching myself to realise just how amazing the HP Con concerts were at Stoller Hall!
We had over 4000 people come to our concerts over the weekend which in itself is just unprecedented – I believe this is now the largest Harry Potter Convention in the world to date.
The audiences were just fabulous and my players just absolutely smashed it – it was an absolute joy to conduct them and to see the reactions in people’s faces when they heard each John Williams track was really something else.
I wanted to thank everyone who came to the event and also to the extremely courteous and professional staff at Chethams School of Music, who really helped everything run as smoothly as it did.
Many thanks to Paul Dixon for the great shots.
The next Harry Potter Con is at Victoria Warehouse in Trafford Park (near the Manchester United ground) on Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th of October.
There are a few surprises planned so I hope you can all make it!
Yesterday was an extremely epic day having signed the contract at Holmfirth Picturedome with Gary Numan for the Numan/Skaparis Tour in November.
Gary was playing at the Holmfirth Picturedome and we managed to sit together for about an hour before he went on stage, fleshing out more details for the Tour and talking through how the arrangements are working.
Gary’s set was incredible last night and we had the great privilege of hanging out with the band and Gary’s family, sharing a few beers after the show!
Many thanks to Paul Dixon for the great shot.
Very excited to have the new Skaparis stamps for stamping our new merchandise bags that will have their debut at the Harry Potter Convention in Manchester next week.
Many thanks for the great job by ‘Get Stamped’ based in Oxford.
The Skaparis has a rehearsal this coming Monday at the RNCM for the concerts at the new Stoller Hall at Chethams School of Music – I can’t wait to put that first down beat down for Star Wars!
I managed to whittle 11 great batons Down to 5 exceptional batons at Guiviers in London!
I’m off to London next week to buy a baton (or two) but will I choose it, or will it choose me? 😉
I was so proud to have seen the RNCM Session Orchestra string section completely going for it on Saturday night in the RNCM Opera Theatre.
They were absolutely on fire and it was an absolute joy to work with them for a week rehearsing.
Many thanks to Andy Stott for inviting me to coach again and also for letting me conduct ‘Titanium’ by David Guetta in rehearsal – what an experience!
John Williams truly is a genius. Here preparing for the Harry Potter Convention on July 21st + 22nd with the concerts at the new Stoller Hall at Chethams School of Music. I’m conducting 6 x 30mins concerts with the Skaparis Orchestra, and includes; Star Wars, Superman, Jaws, Jurassic Park, Indiana Jones, ET and of course the Harry Potter theme! I can’t wait.
A great photo back from the Leeds International Festival show on the 28th April a few months ago with the Classical Uproar team! Many thanks to Tony Hannan for the image.
More gigs to follow very soon – watch this space!
I’ve finally had the time to upload the last video from last summer’s Classical Uproar concert with the Skaparis Orchestra – seems a long time ago now!
It’s 24/7 now writing the arrangements for the Numan/Skaparis Tour in November.
I’m pleased with how it’s progressing and we are sending Gary the first part of our work at the end of this month!
I’m here transferring the architecture and music of the top of the whole show – it has to have exactly the right impact, so it’s taken about 2 months to get to a working score for this introduction.
